Monte Cassino Student Designs Owasso's Flag

Monte Cassino sixth-grader Holden Foyil's design for the Owasso flag was proposed to the community for adoption. City leaders say the flag's theme reflects Owasso's "rich history and enduring character" after Foyil presented the idea to City Council at a recent meeting.

“I have been interested in patriotic symbols, logos, and uniforms since I was really little, making graphics on my iPad for sports teams and weather forecasts,” Foyil said. “I am excited that the City Council was interested in my idea.”

Foyil worked with City staff for six months to go over different designs for the new flag. The municipal team also partnered with local graphic designer Keith Whitfield to bring it to life.

“A city flag has been talked about from time to time, but there was never any traction,” Owasso City Manager Chris Garrett said. “Out of nowhere comes one of the youngest members of our community who demonstrated boldness and initiative, and became the spark that ignited this project.”
