Research proves it; Monte Cassino lives it!

Middleschoolers at K-8 Schools Are...

  • Academically higher-performing in K-8 schools, compared to traditional 6-8 or 6-12 schools.
  • Experience higher levels of self esteem.
  • Are bullied less and less prone to fighting.
  • Have a more positive attitude toward school.
  • Are more successful in 9th grade.
  • Likely to feel safer and more like they belong in K-8 schools due to their "top dog" status, vs. the "bottom dog" status they hold in other school structures.

Cindy and Tom Rapacki

"When we moved to Tulsa with our one year old daughter, one of the first questions we were asked was where she would attend school. Monte Cassino Catholic School was consistently named as the best place in Tulsa. Now, years after she entered as a 3 year old, and brought our twin boys in kindergarten, we are 100% confident that we made the right decision. Academic excellence, supportive faculty and staff and lifelong friendships, all rooted in a 90-plus year tradition of Benedictine culture and values. We're not just part of a school, we're part of a legacy!"

Predicting Success

  • Studies by the RAND Corporation and the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) demonstrate the advantage of a three-year-old through eighth grade education; they enhance academic, social, and emotional development while bringing about improved self-esteem and confidence.
  • A two-year study by American College Testing (ACT) found that eighth grade academic achievement in an appropriate eighth grade curriculum was more significant in determining future success in high school and college than any high school academics experience.
  • Studies by Baltimore Schools found that students in K-8 schools score higher in standardized achievement testing in reading, language and math than traditional 6-8 middle schools.
  • K-8 students have higher overall academic acheivement, tend to participate in more extracurricular activities and have a higher acceptance rate into area high schools of choice. (Offenburg 2001)
  • The experiences of alumni indicate that Monte Cassino School provides powerful long-lasting experiences which prepare students for success in high school and college.
