Building Character Today, Inspiring Leaders for Tomorrow

Sports at Monte Cassino

As represented in the Monte Cassino Student Motto, "Every day at Monte Cassino School we do our best so that in all things God may be glorified," Monte Cassino Athletics encourages its students to participate in and commit to striving towards their best selves in their co-curricular activities. We aim to promote healthy living, physical fitness, the fruit of the Spirit, and athletic skill development. Monte Cassino is dedicated to helping students develop in these areas by providing the very best in coaching, competition, training, and facilities. We offer many school-sponsored and club sports so students can try something new or develop something they have already started as they prep for high school sports.

Monte Cassino & Play Like A Champion

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Play Like a Champion (PLC) Educational Series, a program designed to enhance our students' sports experience and build strong values of character, teamwork, and personal growth. Play Like a Champion is a youth sports education program researched and developed at the University of Notre Dame in 2006.

At Monte Cassino, we believe in using sports to educate and develop our students holistically, and our new partnership with PLC is a step towards ensuring that sports remain a positive and enriching experience for all. Youth sports have long been a powerful tool for teaching valuable life lessons such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership. However, too often, the true purpose of youth sports gets overshadowed by adult pressures and expectations.

What is Play Like a Champion? PLC is an educational series comprised of unique and comprehensive programs designed to meet the needs of youth and high school partners by delivering research-based programs, resources, and consultation. PLC's curriculum elevates the sports culture and enhances every athlete's life by fostering holistic development.

Why This Matters: Participating in the Play Like a Champion program will significantly benefit our school community by aligning coaches, parents, and athletes with a common goal to grow holistically. This program will:
  • Provide our coaches cutting-edge training to make sports fun, inclusive, and educational.
  • Equip parents with tools to support their children's sports experience positively.
  • Building a strong foundation of character, teamwork, and personal growth for our student-athletes.
The Value of Community: Think of our community as a beautiful mosaic, where each piece—whether a coach, parent, or student—plays a vital role in creating a vibrant and supportive environment. Everyone has a part to play in fostering the holistic development of our children. By working together, we can ensure that youth sports remain a powerful tool for teaching life lessons and building character.
