Advanced Learners

Monte Cassino's purpose is to challenge each student's ability at his or her academic level to aim for the next goal. At Monte Cassino, high achieving learners, students who demonstrate above average problem solving skills and who desire additional challenges, are served by two methods: extension classes that focus on developing higher level thinking skills and individual scholar projects designed with the student's interest and learning style in mind.

For students who do not qualify for the extension class, but show aptitude in a particular subject or interest area, we provide an instructional coach who works with the student to create short-term activities or projects that can challenge and extend the student’s interest within the context of the academic day.

Additionally, our third and fourth grade students are placed in on-grade level and above math classes to give students who work at a faster pace, and grasp concepts at a deeper level, the opportunity to do so among their peers of similar ability.
