Middle School Service Projects
Middle School focuses on serving the community in a variety of ways that suites each grade level. All students participate as a whole in these community projects and get to see the impact of their love and loyalty to the Tulsa Community.
St. Elizabeth Lodge (Catholic Charities) Thanksgiving Baskets - St. Elizabeth Lodge is a local organization that help Tulsa local single, working women with minor children succeed on their own. Monte Cassino fifth grade students gather food and other items to create Thanksgiving baskets for nine familes. The students deliver the baskets directly to the families at St. Elizabeth Lodge.
Salvation Army Angel Tree - Monte Cassino sixth graders take on a huge project for the Salvation Army Angel Tree at Christmas time. As students are divided up in groups, they work together or individually to earn money (i.e. raking leaves, bake sales, garage sales, cleaning out attics) for two months before the Angel Tree shopping day. Two weeks before Christmas all the students spend the day picking their Angels and shopping for as many Angels as they can. Average money earned to purchase gifts is around $7,000 and usually covers over 150 Angels.
Food Bank and Catholic Charities - Half the eighth grade students go to the Food Bank to volunteer to sort and pack cans for the poor and the other half of the students go to Catholic Charities to volunteer in the same way. During the second visit, the students switch organizations.
