  • What do you teach at Monte Cassino School?

    I am a 4th grade homeroom teacher.
  • What do you love about Monte Cassino School?

The positive atmosphere and love of learning at Monte Cassino is truly special!
  • Why do you like teaching at Monte Cassino? What motivated you to become a teacher at Monte Cassino?

For me, "Once a Saint, Always a Saint" isn't just a slogan. I actully began my teaching career here at Monte in the fall of 1998. My very first classroom was in the old ECLC building where I taught the 5-day three year-old class. Life then took me on many adventures, including marriage and motherhood. However, when it came time to choose a school for my children, I didn't even have to think twice. Then, having the opportunity to return to Monte Cassino to teach 4th grade was a true homecoming!
  • How do you teach a Catholic worldview in your classes at MCS?

The Benedictine Values guide every aspect of our day. The specific Benedictine value assigned to 4th grade is "Stewardship of God's Creation". Young children are exceptionally passionate about preserving our environment and have a unique ability to see value and beauty in the world around us!
  • What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I absolutely love coming to school every day! However, as a student I struggled with performance anxiety, and often tried to avoid going to school. I definitely remember the teachers who made me feel safe and secure, as well as those who raised my anxiety level. I hope that this experience and perspective helps me to ease the fears of my students and create a loving educational environment.
  • What sets an MC student apart from students in other schools?

MC students are kind, accepting, and have a heart for service. Having taught in all three buildings on campus, at a variety of grade levels, I have seen first-hand how the seeds of character that are planted in the ECLC and ES bloom and mature throughout Middle School. When I accepted a position to teach 6th grade language arts, I truly expected to deal with the stereotypical Middle School drama. What I found, however, was an exceptional community that supported one another and had a great capacity for love.
  • What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

I want my students to feel confident and loved! I want them to feel that they have an advocate who will support them throughout their entire career. My job isn't done when they leave my classroom. I want my students to know that they can come to me anytime for help and support!
