Spirituality and a Benedictine Education

Atrium

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is the religious formation program for the youngest students of campus.  This Montessori-based program teaches the children in the Early Childhood Learning Center through third grade the teachings of Jesus in an atmosphere of love, prayer and exploration.  It cultivates in the children an understanding that they are made in the image and likeness of God and encourages them to seek God in response. In an Atrium a child can ponder a biblical passage or a prayer from the liturgy by taking the materials for that text and working with it - placing wood figures of sheep in a sheepfold of the Good Shepherd, setting hand-carved.
